Line of Duty fans are convinced that DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and DI Kate Fleming (Vick McClure) will get together in upcoming scenes of the BBC police drama.
Eagle-eyed fans of the show have a theory that DI Fleming is working undercover after she appeared to grass on her old AC-12 unit and ridiculing DI Arnott in the process.
Steve previously told Kate about the raid at her new boss DCI Joanne Davidson's (Kelly Macdonald) office just to give her a heads up, but she ended up informing Joanne so that she was able to stop the raid and delay it
As AC-12 investigate the handling of Gail Vella's murder and bent coppers, viewers at home were distracted by the chemistry between Steve and Kate.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "When are Kate and Steve gonna get it on?! Love their chemistry."
Another added: "Steve has feelings for Kate and has since series 1… that’s a hill I will die on."
A third person posted: "Mm… Steve [heart emoji] Kate perhaps?
While a fourth viewer said: "Feel like Steve Arnett and Kate Fleming just need to get it over with and s**g each other already, the inevitable is dragging after six series."
Elsewhere in the show, Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) is warned to drop his investigation into the mysterious "H".
DCC Wise, Ted's boss, told him he should give up the find to find "H", a codename for senior ranking corrupt police officers, who Ted and his team in AC-12 track down.
"You were issued with a final written warning, Ted, don't waste your last roll of the dice chasing a phantom," said DCC Wise.
"Your enquiry into H should close. This isn't about old battles."
Ted replied: "The name's Hastings, ma'am, I'm the epitome of an old battle."
