Lorraine Kelly praised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on her namesake Wednesday show, as she discussed their upcoming Vax Live super gig.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have agreed to chair the charity event, which will see the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez perform as part of the extravaganza.

Celeb expert Ross King appeared on Lorraine from Los Angeles, filling the host in on the details of the gig, and sharing Meghan and Harry's statement.

Lorraine was impressed, agreeing it was brilliant for the couple to commit themselves to charitable endeavours.

"That is the kind of thing that they should be doing. This is a great thing for both of them to get behind," she said.

"So, good for them."

The event, organised by Global Citizen, is set to go ahead on May 8, raising much-needed funding to vaccinate countries without access to the global vaccine supply.

"Over the past year, our world has experienced pain, loss, and struggle — together. Now we need to recover and heal — together," said Harry and Meghan, addressing the event.

"We can't leave anybody behind.

"We will all benefit, we will all be safer, when everyone, everywhere has equal access to the vaccine. We must pursue equitable vaccine distribution, and in that, restore faith in our common humanity. This mission couldn't be more critical or important."

The event will also feature appearances from Hollywood stars Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, David Letterman, Gayle King and Jimmy Kimmel.

Global Citizen Canada confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be taking part on Tuesday, announcing: "#VaxLive is almost here!
