Eagle-eyed Love Island fans have branded Matt MacNabb a "liar" for telling the boys he'd shared an "intimate kiss" with newbie Priya Gopaldas.

Despite Matt's efforts the medical student gave him her cheek when he offered up a kiss.

Wanting to throw new guy Brett Staniland off of the scent, Matt returned to the boys explaining he had some "news" to share.

Knowing that Brett was in ear-shot he told the lads he and Priya had shared a moment of passion but failed to provide details that it was just a peck.

Angry fans took to their keyboards to call out Matt for his antics.

One tweet read: "Matt is so boring he is a liar. He exaggerated what happened between him and Priya."

Another online user fumed: "Matthew's such a liar.. on about intimate."

A third person added: "If anyone told their friends we has “an intimate moment” because I pecked them I’d block immediately – that’s so weird lol."

"Matt hyped up that peck beyond what it was! I was confused. #loveisland," moaned a forth.

While a firth person offered up some serious advice: "Matt I wouldn't use the word 'intimate' to describe your chat with Priya."

Matt had been getting to know Priya when Love Island producers dropped in another bombshell lad for him to compete with.

Straight away it seemed that Brett had eyes for Priya, telling her she "looked nice" but didn't mutter a word to any of the other girls.

Matt could sense straight away that there was an elephant in the room and that Priya and Brett were gravitating towards one another.

The following day, after Priya had led a "graduation ceremony" for the girls who had got steamy with their significant other's the night before, Brett seized an opportunity to swoop in.

He and Priya were enjoying chatting while practising yoga when Matt came over to "steal" the medical student.
