Lucifer will be back next month for the sixth and final series on Netflix. In season five, fans were gutted when the beloved Dan (played by Kevin Alejandro) was unexpectedly killed off. However, the trailer for the latest series tells a different story.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Lucifer.
Is Dan alive?
Dan was murdered during the investigation into Amenadiel’s (D B Woodside) missing necklace.
He was killed by French Mercenaries as part of Michael’s (Tom Ellis) plan to try and make Chloe Decker (Lauren German) feel guilty.
With the end so near, fans were upset to think he wouldn’t be in the final lot of episodes.
But when the trailer was released earlier this month, it proved this will not be the case.
Dan is featured a few times in the season six trailer of Lucifer.
He is first seen playing ping pong with an unknown police officer and then in another scene when Maze takes out a severed head, Dan screams in terror, making Ella (Aimee Garcia) flinch.
In response to his over-the-top reaction, Maze says: “Relax, dude, he was like that when I found him.”
So it looks like Dan is actually alive in these moments.
But these could be flashbacks, focusing on what Dan did when he was alive, rather than now.
His death led to Lucifer (Tom Ellis) wanting to become God and he introduced Ella to Carol Corbett (Scott Porter).
Executive producer Joe Henderson said at Comic Com @Home Panel: “So much of what we were building on in season five was Dan trying to leave a legacy.
“Because what he tried to do with his dying breath was introduce Ella to someone he thought might be good for her.
“That is something we will explore in season six, the legacy of that gesture from Dan.”

Lucifer season 6: Will Lucifer wipe Chloe Decker’s memory in finale? [THEORY]
There is another key scene in the trailer which does also teases the fact he’s actually dead.
Dan is shown diving straight through new angel Rory (Brianna Hildebrand) as it looks like he is trying to attack her.
This would suggest he has no physical form and therefore is stuck in limbo.
Either way, Dan will be featured in the final season, despite his unpredictable death.
Actor Alejandro shared a poster of Lucifer series six on Instagram.
In the caption, he wrote: “Family came together for picture day.
“One last time. September 10. I cannot wait for you all to see it. Prepare for some amazing twists and turns…and plenty of laughs.”
Lucifer season six will premiere on Friday, September 10, on Netflix.
