Abby Sciuto (played by Pauley Perrette) was no stranger to showing off her unique style and looks during her tenure on NCIS. And since leaving the long-running CBS drama in 2018, fans have been keeping up to date with the star via social media as she has since announced her retirement from acting on the small screen. Now, in a rare return to Twitter, Perrette showed off a new look that is worlds away from Abby.
Abby was instantly recognisable on NCIS thanks to the forensic scientist’s punky attire, adorable friendships and remarkable expertise.
And now Perrette has lived up to Abby’s unique style by showing off a rather striking look of her own.
Returning to Twitter this week for the first time since November, Perrette snapped a selfie with her new brightly-coloured hairdo looking rather rogue.
Perrette didn’t attach a caption to the snap but it still didn’t take long for many of her 706.3k followers to chime in with their thoughts on the look.
Twitter user Brad Trageser wrote: “As ALWAYS……….BREATH-TAKING!!!!!!STAY SAFE…STAY YOU. LOVE YA GAL.”
“Ur hair is so pretty,” @forensicgoth echoed while Barbara Withrow weighed in: “Well hello stranger! Merry Christmas . Oh yeah, love it.”
And @jessimdlc also commented on the look: “That is an impressive amount of hair! All I could think of was Dancing Queen.”
“I luv ur hair,” Rose Petalz concurred while Julia Cantrell similarly praised: “Love the color.”
Gillian Thomas sent her well wishes as she added: “Love it. Merry Christmas Pauley. Xx.”
And @Bechlovinmom1 paid a nod to Perrette’s old NCIS alter-ego: “Rainbow Abbey! We miss you!!!” (sic)
While this may have marked Perrette’s return to social media, those pleading with an NCIS comeback are in for some disappointing news.
The 52-year-old announced last year that she was retiring from acting following the cancellation of CBS sitcom Broke.

Perrette had starred alongside the likes of Jane the Virgin’s Jaime Camil and Hoops star Natasha Leggero in the series but sadly one season was enough for CBS.
While Abby does remain alive in the NCIS universe, Perrette announced after Broke’s ending she wouldn’t be returning to the small screen to act – in any show.
She penned in July 2020 on her Twitter: “I retired after NCIS but BROKE was important, beautiful.
“I did my last dance & am proud of it! Everyone that knows me knew I was retiring right after.
“I’m proud of my work. I love you guys! I AM FREE!!! (To be the tiny little simple human I am!) #Plants #RescuePets #Books.”
NCIS is still going strong without Abby on the team, however, as the drama continues its 19th season next year.
Perrette’s Abby isn’t the only stalwart to depart recently, however, with series legend Mark Harmon stepping back from the role of Gibbs in 2021.
The likes of Maria Bello as Jack Sloane and Emily Wickersham as Ellie Bishop have also said their farewells in the past few seasons.
NCIS season 19 airs Mondays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
