After learning that Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) has motor neurone disease, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) attempts to help him out in Coronation Street.
The beloved character’s diagnosis will eventually lead to his death but right now, in the early stages, Paul is facing the prospect of telling his family about his illness.
Distracting himself with dodgy jobs that Damon (Ciaran Griffiths) has assigned him, Paul can only hide the truth for so long and coming up, Dee-Dee introduces him to a lady called Trish.
It turns out that Trish lost her husband to MND and decides to describe the stages and what to expect to Paul.

Dee-Dee then urges Paul to tell Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) and his family about his condition, but is meeting Trish enough for him to face up to the reality?
Or will Paul continue to find other things to think about?
‘At first, Paul – who as a builder, relies entirely on his physicality for his livelihood – will massively go off the rails in a misplaced bid to ensure he isn’t a burden on his loved ones,’ series producer Iain MacLeod explained to us recently. ‘But in the end, they will be the ones to put him back together emotionally.
‘We are committed to portraying in a long-term, sensitive way the effects of this condition on Paul and his family and friends, not shying away from the sometimes-painful reality of what his life will be like.’
