Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) was left fearing the worst in Emmerdale, as Vinny (Bradley Johnson) suggested that — if forced to choose — he would pick dad Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale) over her.
Mandy feared that Paul would manage to manipulate and win over son Vinny, and thus far, her fears have come to pass.
In spite of her warning Vinny what his dad is capable of, the young man has been determined to get to know Paul — and the two have formed quite a close bond as a result.
In tonight’s episode (August 31), Mandy became determined to show Vinny who Paul truly is, and the perfect opportunity to do so — or so she thought — arose during a visit to David’s (Matthew Wolfenden).
David revealed to Matty (Ash Palmisciano) that he’d accurately guessed the position of the ball in his charity game, confirming that they’d raised over £100 as a result.
Paul eyed up the winnings — something which Mandy saw for herself — and when David came to realise that the money had been stolen, Mandy was quick to point the finger at her ex.
Vinny arrived, and he was devastated to hear his mum making such accusations, but she was adamant to prove that this is exactly the kind of thing Paul would do.
However, it turns out that Paul didn’t actually the nick the money, but rather Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) put it away for safe keeping.
Paul was emotional as Mandy had revealed all the details about his past to all those in the village for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
Meanwhile, Vinny was fuming with Mandy, and informed her that she had better not make him choose between his parents because, right now, she wouldn’t like the outcome.
Mandy was heartbroken, but will Vinny follow through and cut her out of his life in favour of Paul?
Would the young man really choose Paul over Mandy?
Emmerdale continues Wednesday September 2 at 7pm on ITV.
