The Repair Shop returned to BBC One on Wednesday as the owner of a vintage camera asked experts Suzie Fletcher and Brenton West if they could repair her late grandad’s prized possession. However, the guest was left “overwhelmed” by the restoration and admitted she’d never dreamed the item would look as good as it now did.

Suzie and Brenton welcomed guest Jackie and her partner, Jackie, into The Repair Shop.

Jackie had brought in her late grandad’s camera and revealed it had been extremely important to him.

When the couple returned to the workshop, Jackie fought back tears as she saw what a wonderful job Suzie and Brenton had done.

“You look apprehensive,” Suzie remarked as Jackie agreed she was.

“We’ve been busy busy,” Brenton commented and the guest added: “I bet you have.”

“Shall we put them out of their misery?” Brenton asked before revealing the camera.

Jackie commented: “Oh my goodness me, that is amazing, goodness me.”

“What’s it taking you back to?” Suzie asked the owner of the item.

“It’s taking me back to a time when grandad was alive obviously,” she answered.

“He’d be stunned I think he thought it was irreparable. To see his camera, his pride and joy…”

“As it should be,” Brenton interjected. “It’s now as it should be.”

“I’ve got tears in my eyes,” Jackie confessed as she examined the stunning item.

“The bellows are so good they don’t sag,” she observed.

“Suzie spent a long time doing those bellows, she’s not talking to me anymore,” Brenton joked.

“What about the shutter?” Jackie asked and he replied: “The shutter works.”

“You’re joking,” the guest replied before taking a look herself. “Oh, that is amazing.”

Suzie remarked: “You being a keen photographer made it all the more special to the two of us because we knew you were going to use it.”

“Thank you,” Jackie shared before Brenton noted: “It’s been a pleasure,” and Suzie remarked: “It’s been wonderful.”

“Granddad’s camera is able to take pictures again which I never thought would happen,” the guest later added.

“It’s overwhelming I can’t wait to use it now.”

The Repair Shop airs on BBC One on Wednesdays at 9pm.
