Top Gear’s The Stig to host new dating show – around a racetrack

Top Gear legend The Stig is to turn motoring matchmaker in a new dating show.

Car nuts looking for love will be teamed up with suitable strangers around a race track in a Grand Prix
version of Blind Date.

And mystery Top Gear test driver The Stig will give the would-be lovers a series of motoring challenges to see whose fledgling relationship makes it to the finish line.

BBC chiefs want to hear from potential contestants now.

They must be single and give insight into the car they own and what drives their motoring passions.

The show – called Speed Dating with The Stig – will be shown exclusively online initially .

It is not yet known if Top Gear presenters Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris will be involved. Paddy, 47, previously presented ITV’s popular dating show Take Me Out, which was axed last year after an
11-year run.

A BBC insider said: “There’s been a lot of buzz around the return of Blind Date and the Beeb want to get in on the action.
