Virgin River: Alexandra Breckenridge stars in season two teaser
WARNING: This story contains spoilers for Virgin River
Virgin River season three is a possibility for Netflix, as there are so many unanswered questions from the second instalment. Jack Sheridan’s (played by Martin Henderson) girlfriend Charmaine Roberts (Lauren Hammersley) wrote Jack a letter revealing she was pregnant. Some fans believe the twins are not Jack’s and they have suggested she got pregnant using a different treatment.
Did Charmaine go through IVF?
Virgin River season two was full of twists and turns, with one of the main storylines centred around Charmaine’s pregnancy.
She was afraid to tell Jack of the news at first and wrote everything down in a letter, which she gave to Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole).
Jack, who had since developed feelings for Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), was shocked when he found out the truth but he vowed to support Charmaine through the pregnancy.
Charmaine later found out she was having twins, which made Jack even more concerned about the future.
Some fans believe Charmaine used the pregnancy as an excuse to keep Jack close, after he admitted he no longer had romantic feelings for her.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the pregnancy, with some suggesting the babies are not Jack’s at all.
One of the fan theories is that Charmaine used IVF (In vitro fertilisation) to get pregnant in secret, before convincing Jack that the babies were his.
They took to Reddit to discuss the theory with, Fmanow saying: “Looking at Charmaine’s age and her saying this is her last chance at motherhood, it seems like she would have been going through in vitro without telling Jack and once she got confirmation of her pregnancy is when she timed her encounter with Jack to play into the timeline.
“She knew Jack didn’t want to be with her and thus would never want to have kids with her, so to trap him, she went ahead and got the pregnancy taken care of and linked it to Jack.
“Of course the other obvious plot twist is that it’s someone else’s, but since the idea of in vitro has already been introduced with Mel’s history, I think it would play well with Charmaine’s pregnancy. Twins are also more common within vitro from what I understand because they try to implant as many eggs as possible to increase the chance of catching.”
Fans are right in saying IVF has played an important role in the series so far. Mel had lost her first baby during a stillbirth, and it broke her.
She kept asking her husband Mark (Daniel Gillies) to try one more round of IVF, and during an argument in the car, Mark took his eyes off the road and the impact from the crash killed him.
There is a chance IVF continues to play a role in the series, so Charmaine could have used this method to get pregnant without Jack knowing.
While some fans support the theory, others have indicated Charmaine could not have afforded to go through such a treatment.
CaseyRC said: “Older mothers are more likely to have non-identical twins – they’re more likely to release two eggs. I don’t think Charmaine could afford IVF, frankly, and while she’s been painted horrifically in s2, I don’t think she’s that conniving.
“Paternity fraud is a crime and far too easily proved in these times. I suspect that the twins are Brady’s [Ben Hollingsworth] or something.”

Qbb0402 added: “If I‘m not mistaken in vitro is a very expensive procedure. Where would she get the money from considering she’s working as a hairdresser? Although let’s be honest, this woman might find a way just to ruin everything.”
Some fans have said IVF would not make sense for Charmaine’s character, as she has proven to be sensitive to others when she needs to be.
They have suggested she did get pregnant on purpose in order to keep Jack in the picture and away from Mel.
Suggestions include the fact she may have stopped using birth control deliberately, without telling Jack.
Charmaine has already suggested her chances of having children naturally are slim, due to her age, which is why fans have raised the prospect of IVF.
Charmaine was left heartbroken after Jack made it clear he would not be living with her and the babies once they were born.
He had paid for a new house for Charmaine and the children, and she was under the impression he would be living with them as a family.
With Jack admitting he wanted to pursue a relationship with Mel, Charmaine broke down and said she felt confused by his conflicted thoughts.
Some fans have suggested she was the one to have shot Jack in the final episode, as her plan to keep him to herself had clearly failed.
They will have to wait until season three to find out if Charmaine really was Jack’s ‘killer’.
