X Factor: Celebrity’s Dermot O’Leary addresses Vinnie Jones absence

The second week of X Factor: Celebrity kicked off this week, with a whole new batch of celebrities ready to impress judges Nicole Scherzinger, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.

But before tonight's proceedings kicked off, Dermot alerted the celebs of a missing contestant, seemingly in reference to Vinnie Jone's absence.

While Dermot didn't refer to Vinnie by name, he said: "Unfortunately we have one more act that couldn’t be here due to personal reasons."

Vinnie was due to take part in the initial audition stages of the show.

However he had to pull out due the devastating loss of his beloved wife Tanya, who died in July after battling melanoma.

But the Watford-native is reported to be taking part in the later episodes.

Last week, The Mirror claimed Jones had vowed to take part in the live auditions.

He is reportedly wanting to do it in memory of his late wife.

A source told the publication: "Vinnie has been in talks with Simon Cowell and the show for a long time. Simon’s been very supportive through the whole thing.

"Tanya loved the programme and wanted Vinnie to do it. But he has been grieving since she passed away and has been going through a very tough time."

"He has spent the past month weighing it all up and bosses are expecting him to join the show for live auditions."

In a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, Vinnie revealed it was Tanya's "dream" for him to do the X Factor.

He said: "The talk of the X Factor and all that – she loved it – she loved the X Factor."

"That was her dream."

"Whether I do it or not, that's a different story.

"It doesn't matter. There are other ways I can fulfil her legacy."
