A 15-year-old British boy is in a very serious condition after stabbing his parents in Tenerife and then throwing himself the equivalent of five storeys down a ravine in the heart of the tourist south.
His mother and father, also British, are both in hospital with varying degrees of injury inflicted by a knife.
The incident happened last night in Costa Adeje near the bus station in Playa de las Americas.
Police are describing the attack as very violent and have launched an investigation.
At this stage, it is being treated as a case of family domestic violence and the mental state of the teenager is believed to have contributed.
The family is understood to be resident in Tenerife rather than on holiday.
