Children trapped after school bus overturns in crash as paramedics rush to scene

CHILDREN are trapped in an overturned school bus after a horror crash saw paramedics rush to the scene.

School kids were injured after the bus went "into a ditch" in North Hykeham this morning – as witnesses saw cops and an ambulance race to the quiet country lane.

Parents have been urged not to go to the crash on Meadow Lane, and to instead travel to St Christopher's School.

There, frantic staff are "setting up" for an influx of terrified parents – as the road remains closed to traffic.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: "Meadow Lane and Brant Road was closed at 8:43am to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

"There are no serious injuries reported. Parents are advised against travelling to the scene and instead to travel to St Christopher's School."

An insider at the school – which caters to kids with severe learning difficulties – told the Sun: "Everybody is dealing with it at the moment.

"We are currently setting up, putting chairs out."

Police confirmed the kids on the bus were not pupils at St Christopher's School and the premises is just a rendezvous point.

Meanwhile, a Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called at 8.32 this morning to an overturned bus on Meadow Lane.

"We had one crew from Lincoln South Fire Station who attended to assist police on scene safety."
