A mother has shared a horrifying video of the moment a doctor dropped her newborn baby daughter on her head moments after she was born.
Monique Rogers uploaded the clip of her daughter Morgan slipping out of the medic’s hands as she was being cleaned up at the Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, Arizona.
Her husband Derrick, who was filming Morgan and twin sister Madison’s birth, can be heard gasping as the child flips, lands on her head on the table and almost plunges from the edge of it.
Morgan is then lifted back up, turned over so she is facing upwards again, and swaddled in a blanket.
The man who dropped the baby exchanges a glance with a colleague, but continues working on Morgan without saying a word.
Monique said her daughter, who was born in February, now has a grade 1 hemorrhage (the least serious type) on the left side of her brain.
She is unsure whether it was an existing condition, or caused by the accident, and is terrified her daughter could suffer long-term health problems as a result.
She is now considering legal action against the hospital, and says she is desperate to prevent another family having to undergo the same stress and worry.
Morgan explained: ‘I just wanted people to know what happened to my baby.
‘As a mother, you’re supposed to be there to protect her and I felt like I wasn’t there to protect her when she was born.
‘I couldn’t stop them from being rough with her or him holding her with one hand, I couldn’t stop him.
‘I don’t know if she’ll be hurt for the rest of her life.’
A hospital spokesman said they were investigating the incident, but refused to comment further citing privacy laws.
