A woman’s foot was severed when she and another pedestrian were hit by a rental-car driver in lower Manhattan on Friday night, police said.
The car2go driver hit the 43-year-old woman and the 50-year-old man near the intersection of Murray Street and West Street in Tribeca at about 10 p.m., cops said.
The woman, whose foot was severed by the impact, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition, authorities said.
The man was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.
A witness, who did not want to be named, said he saw the driver hit the pedestrians before slamming into a light pole.
The woman’s foot ended up in a grassy patch on a nearby sidewalk, he added.
The driver stayed at the scene, but was seen being taken into custody by police after they conducted a sobriety test. Charges against him are pending.
